This summer, we had the exciting chance to enroll twelve eager kids going into 2nd and 3rd grades in our summer reading program. The goal was to help them improve their reading skills and love for books. In this program, the students took part in fun reading activities like guided reading and foundations of literacy .
As the program went on, the students showed amazing progress in their reading skills, which was great to see. To celebrate their hard work, we planned some exciting field trips for the last week. Each day brought exciting new adventure!
On the first day of our field trip week, we went to a local playground.

The next day, we headed to the Chatanooga Aquarium and saw many cool creatures like butterflies and petting stingrays!
In the middle of the week, we visited a splash pad. The water bucket was a hit!

Finally, on the last day of our field trip week, we visited with one of our partners and toured the quary!

We hope to be able to enroll even more students next summer and increase our impact of helping readers!
